UNDERSTAND THE APPLICATION

Two applications. A clear testing objective.

The building envelope and the air-distribution network are different test boundaries. Start by defining what you need to assess.

Building airtightness

Blower-door testing investigates air leakage through the building envelope. The test scope needs to identify the area being tested, its condition and the access available for preparation and measurement.

Before selecting a system

  • Building use, size and test boundary
  • Construction stage and intended test objective
  • Access, preparation and reporting requirements

Air-duct airtightness

Air-duct testing focuses on leakage from the air-distribution network. Define the section of ductwork to be assessed, the access points and the project requirements before choosing the equipment configuration.

Before selecting a system

  • Air-duct section and system layout
  • Access points and preparation of the test section
  • Required test procedure and reporting needs

Testing larger buildings.

Large-building airtightness work may require a coordinated multifan configuration. Tell us about the building, intended test and project constraints so that the equipment requirements can be discussed.
